Simply|Lonny

Lonny 's holiday mini mag went live today! It's  like Christmas morning!  I feel like I'm constantly waiting on a new edition.  For those of you who haven't checked out this amazing online magazine...I have three words for you.. get with it! Lonny is the perfect combination of great design, interesting articles and beautiful pictures.  I honestly want an ipad just so I can read lonny from anywhere (because it's a little difficult to pretend that I'm doing work when I'm trying to devour this on my 27" mac).

For anyone interested in design, interiors, pretty things, or just want fabulous inspiration to decorate your apartment Lonny should be your bible.  Every month I'm inspired by their choices of features and cannot wait for a place of my own to put some of these ideas into action!

Favorite read this month? Recipe for Success, about Lulu Power's amazing LA home. Um CB2   Media Cabinet with the fabulous orange and pink pillows... the colors, the patterns... I DIE.

Enjoy!

Simply|Honeysuckle

Pantone has just announced their choice of color for 2011, and I must say... i don't hate it! Seeing as how pink is my favorite color I think this is a very good sign of things to come for 2011.  When in doubt I go for pink, the thing about pink is it's so much more versatile then people realize.  It can be hot and vibrant perfect for a night out or to spice up a pair of jeans or it can be dusty and subtle for a sophisticated and elegant look.  Pink gets a lot of flack for being "girly" or too "young" but really it's an ideal color... can you name one color it doesn't go with? Green, black, navy, white, tan, orange, purple, teal.... and the list goes on.
Pantone says Honeysuckle is "Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing “everyday” about it."
Courageous, confident & vital. What perfect words for a brand new year!

Simply|421

So with the arrival of the first snow I guess it’s time to admit that it’s officially winter in New York City. I’ve put it off long enough, refusing to wear a hat & gloves, rocking a seriously thin jacket and pretending that this year we were going to escape the brutal winter in the City.  But now that I know there is no getting around it I guess I’d better just embrace it… so with that I thought grey would be the perfect color choice for this week.  How warm and cozy do all these items look? A perfect outfit for bopping around town and picking up Christmas gifts! And look at that size of that tote! I die.

So grab your warmest flannels and get cozy, I have a feeling this is a start to a long winter!

Simply|Shiny

I’m going to start this blog with a funny story.  Just to prove to you just how far I will go for pretty (and in this case shiny) things...

When I was 5 I had, like every other girl, a pair of patent leather shoes.  You know the kind, with the big bow on the front.  We’ll I’d wear them every day to preschool and every day the teacher would ask me if I’d like to put my sneakers on to go out for recess. And every day I was baffled that she couldn’t see that pink stride rites by no means match white tights and a Polly Flinder dress. So every day I refused and click clacked my way out to the playground in my patent leather shoes.  Now this was all fine and good except for the dust and the rocks that plagued that playground.  So every day on our way back inside the classroom I would bend down, take off my shoe and…lick it. Yes. That’s right. I said it.

Now of course my mom was mortified when she found out.  But I couldn’t stop.  Once I realized how shiny my patent leather shoes could be with a little spit there was no stopping me… and of course there is no reasoning with a five year old.

So there you have it.  My obsession with pretty things started young and really hasn’t let up…although I can assure I do not lick my patent leather shoes any more, but I have been known to use a baby wipe here and there.

Simply|Moi

Welcome to Simply.

I’m Anderson, a graphic designer living and working in NYC and I am obsessed with pretty things (the first step is admitting it, right?!).  Not a day goes by where I don’t have that I’m-totally-in-love-half-to-have-it-gut-retching feeling. And that feeling can over take anywhere at any moment… paper presentations? Kate Spade? Hell I’ve even had the feeling at Whole Foods (what can I say beautiful packaging makes my knee’s weak).

It’s been a problem I’ve been battling my entire life.  My mom says I’ve never met a store I didn’t like. I’d have to agree.  So in an effort to start my own little company of pretty things (stationary, invitations & announcements) I’ve decided to start a blog to share with you one pretty thing at a time.

So simply enjoy.
